Shadow
by Ashley Lin

A shadow comes with rays of light
the long silhouette on the ground follows
Dark from light, comfort yet burden
Stand tall, and walk never alone
It follows, unable to be escaped
In unison steps keep in time
A mirror warped by sun
Reality of oneself twisted in the beams of the day
Reflected on the ground behind
The radiance of the sky begins to wane
And the image is lost with the day
The relief and gloom of quiet darkness
How small one stands as the sun fades
Standing alone, without one’s shadow

"I Am of this Land"
by Michael Lukacs Jokubaitis

I am all things to all people.
I am the beginning and the end, as you are.
And yet everyone is more than they seem.
I am more than what is contained in this mere shell, this mere frame.
My limits are beyond my measure or comprehension.
I am all the places of this world, of this great land,
For I inhabit it all,
From the height of the Sierras,
To the depths of the Death Valley,
From the vast expanses of the plains,
To the narrow gorges of the Appalachians,
From the snow-capped summits of the Rockies,
To the heat of the steaming bayou,
From the great Gulf of Mexico,
To the coves on Long Island sound,
From the creeks and streams of the Catskills,
To the meandering ox-bows of the mightly Mississippi; the restless, impetuous
Missouri, the Ohio, the rapids of the Rio Grande, or the stately grace of the Hudson.
I am all these, and all these are me.
From the placid Pacific to the tempestuous Atlantic,
Teaming with trade scows, skiffs, clippers and square-riggers,
From the cold, chilling stillness of the dense, lush forests of Canadian pine,
To the barren plain of the Great Salt Flats, and the tables of Mojave,
I spread my arms wide and embrace it all,
I breathe its intoxicating, heady air,
I drink its cool refreshing water,
I eat the fruits of its soil,
I am of it, born and raised,
And I will, I will become a part of it.
But to be covered with this land, to be smothered in its richness,
Is no end, but a beginning. Yes...
It all is glorious to me.

During the past 25 years
the Piano Teachers Society of America
has presented over 4000 young pianists in recital.
We are proud to be an innovator, very often copied,
but never duplicated.
We celebrate our uniqueness.
We wish to thank all of the teachers, parents, and students
who have supported us over these many years.
